Agnes Avenue Green Street

Project Location

The Agnes Avenue Green Street Project (Project) is a green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) project located in Council District 2 in the North Hollywood area of Los Angeles. The is in a residential neighborhood with drainage area approximately bounded by Vose St to the north, Laurel Canyon Blvd to the east, Hinds Ave to the west and Vanowen St to the south.

Project Description

The Project captures stormwater and urban runoff from a 80-acre watershed and infiltrates the captured water into underground aquifers. During a normal rainy season, the project has the potential to capture more than 16 million gallons of water annually. The Project takes a distributed approach and installs green stormwater infrastructure at various locations in the drainage area. Rain gardens, catch basins and drywells capture and infiltrate rainwater and urban runoff.

Project benefits:
  • Infiltrates stormwater into the San Fernando Valley Groundwater Basin
  • Reduces localized flooding
  • Removes pollutants such as trash, bacteria, metals, sediments and nutrients from stormwater runoff
  • Increases pedestrian and vehicular convenience and safety

Project Cost and Partners

The Project cost was $2.5 million with funding provided by LA Sanitation and Environment and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the California State Coastal Conservancy.
