CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS

The City proposed development of recreational facilities at the City-owned closed Sheldon-Arleta Landfill will be constructed in phases depending on funding.

The area will include the following: two soccer fields, a baseball field, a basketball court, and a free play area.

LA Sanitation (LASAN) will have the lead responsibility of the site and construction, and implementation of the design and closure of the landfill. LASAN construction crews are currently working on earthwork consisting of cut and fill operations, transporting and stockpiling soil, compacting five feet of dirt for final grade and establishing proper drainage patterns for the existing site.
