CUGU focuses on pollution prevention, pollution reduction, and economic revitalization while providing businesses with assistance in complying with regulatory requirements.

The South Los Angeles Transit Empowerment Zone (SLATE-Z) is a place-based initiative and collective impact partnership whose mission is to revitalize South Los Angeles by moving residents to economic opportunity.

The Los Angeles Promise Zone is focused on creating a collective impact project that targets resources to create jobs, boost public safety, improve public education, and stimulate better housing opportunities for residents and neighborhoods.

Opportunity Zones are select census tracts in which businesses, equipment, and real property can receive investment through special funding. They allow investors to receive federal tax incentives by investing their capital gains into select communities known as Opportunity Zones using special investment vehicles called Opportunity Funds.

Disadvantaged communities are specifically targeted for investment of proceeds from the state’s Cap-and-Trade Program. These investments are aimed at improving public health, quality of life and economic opportunity in California’s most burdened communities, and at the same time, reducing pollution that causes climate change.

  • LA Green Business certifications are valid for up to four years. After four years, businesses maintain their green business status by recertifying with the City of Los Angeles.
