LASAN collects refuse, recyclables and yard trimmings from over 750,000 homes and cleans up abandoned waste across the City with its fleet of clean fuel vehicles. LASAN is transitioning to a new waste and recycling system for businesses and large apartment complexes.
LASAN is responsible for one of the world’s largest wastewater collection and treatment systems. 6,500 miles of sewers serve over four million customers. The City’s four wastewater and water reclamation plants process 550 million gallons of wastewater daily.
A watershed is an area where runoff drains into a creek, river or other body of water. LA has four watersheds. The goal of the watershed program is to protect the beneficial uses of receiving waters while complying with flood control and pollution abatement regulations.
