recycLA provides uniform and transparent monthly rates for multi-family and commercial customers throughout the City of Los Angeles. Your recycLA Service Provider will conduct a waste assessment of your property and work with you to determine your optimal level of service for the lowest possible cost. The 2023 Rate Table will assist you in understanding how the monthly rate for your service level is calculated. The rate scenarios that follow also demonstrate how rates are calculated and how you may be able to reduce your costs through increased recycling.

Effective 1/1/2023, there will be a 5.00% rate increase in accordance with the recycLA contract. To discuss service adjustments or payment arrangements that may be available to alleviate COVID-19 pandemic challenges you are facing, please contact the City’s Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-2489.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN RATES

Rates are predictable and consistent citywide, inclusive of all city fees, bin cleaning, graffiti removal, and customer service standards.

recycLA service providers cannot charge additional “hidden” fees, such as administrative fees, fuel service charges, and environmental recovery charges. Extra charges (and the circumstances under which they can be applied) are contractually set. recycLA service providers cannot charge for extra services not already set. Rates have been set so that costs can decrease as recycling increases. Additional fees and charges may be assessed by the recycLA service provider if they are unable to service the solid waste, comingled recyclables, or organic waste containers.

The following scenarios were created using the 2023 Rate Table.

If you have one (1), 3 cubic yard Black Bin and one (1), 3 cubic yard Blue Bin that are both serviced (collected/emptied) once per week, what is your monthly service rate?

$295.73 (Base rate–1/week)

If you have two (2), 3 cubic yard Black Bins that are serviced twice per week, what is your monthly service rate?

$554.58 (Base rate-2/week) + $342.41 
(Additional Black Bin-2/week) = $896.99

How can you potentially reduce your monthly service rate?

Convert one of the Black Bins to Blue Bin service.

$554.58 (Base rate-2/week)

Retain the two Black Bins, add two Blue Bins and
reduce service frequency for all bins to once per week.

$295.73 (Base rate-1/week) + $182.52 
(Additional Black Bin-1/week) = $478.25

Note: Customer saves $418.74 in this scenario of recycling more with more blue bins and less service frequency.
