LA Sanitation (LASAN) collects over one million tons of refuse annually from 750,000 customers including single and small multi-family residences. Container and field repairs are conducted for over 750 customers per day. In addition, LASAN's container rollout program includes systematic replacement of refuse containers that have exceeded their life expectancy.

LASAN has recently acquired and begun operating the City-owned Central Los Angeles Refuse Transfer Station (CLARTS) to reduce contractual costs to manage and transport materials to recycling and disposal facilities.
LASAN will pick up abandoned waste such as mattresses, couches, doors, carpet, toilets, electrical waste and other furniture and items from the streets serviced by LASAN, free of charge.

Curbside, Commercial, and Sidewalk Container Services
Dead animals, with the exception of horses and cows, are collected by LASAN, free of charge.
Extra Capacity Tags can be sold to residents generating extra refuse or yard trimmings.
Collection services will be postponed by one calendar day on specific holidays.
Residential horse owners may order 60-gallon brown horse manure containers.
Everyday household products found under your kitchen sink or in your garage are household hazardous waste (HHW).
Let us know if one of your containers was not emptied or if a service request was not completed.
LASAN residents who recently moved in or out of their residence may receive special accommodations for the extra refuse generated.
LASAN has permanent collection sites known as S.A.F.E. Centers as well as mobile collection events for the convenient and safe disposal of e-waste, used motor oil and household hazardous waste (HHW).
Used motor oil, like other household hazardous waste, can harm the environment if it is not recycled or disposed of properly.
A private waste hauler collecting solid waste within the City, including Construction and Demolition Waste, must obtain an AB 939 Compliance Permit (a.k.a. Waste Hauler Permit).
