The Ozone Demonstration Project involves adding ozone treatment to the existing multi-step treatment process at DCTWRP. Ozone treatment will further enhance the water quality of the recycled water produced and this project will demonstrate the effectiveness and benefits of this technology and that it is viable at a larger scale. Up to 3.1 MGD of this treated water will be delivered through an existing pipeline to the Hansen Spreading Grounds in the San Fernando Valley where it will soak into the ground through the soil, providing additional highly effective natural treatment through filtration and microbiological activity before the water reaches the aquifer.
