Over 50 exhibitors

The exhibitor area is so much fun, you won’t even know you’re learning! All of our exhibitors are either government or non-profit. There will be nothing for sale, but there are plenty of giveaways! Learn how to use recycled water at home, what items can go in the blue recycling bin, where to get free mulch, how to sign up for a free street tree, and much more!

City vehicles to explore

This is what the kids have been waiting for! LASAN brings out one of each truck type for kids to explore. Honk horns, operate the controls, and see what it’s like to be a collections worker! Additionally, other City departments will bring vehicles for kids to explore. Don’t forget your camera to capture those smiles!

Mascots and live entertainment

LA Sanitation’s mascots will be out in full-force. Meet Mr. Recy-cle, Tommy TV, Octo-Clean, and their good friend, The Drop. Throughout the day, there will be speakers and entertainers on the stage. We will also have an enviro-azzi area for photographs with our mascots to keep your memories alive until next year’s event.

Truck Artwork Competition

Elementary schools from Council Districts 8, 9, 10 and 15 were invited to participate in our very first LASAN Earth Day LA Truck Artwork competition, open to K-5 students. The artwork had one requirement: to take inspiration from the interpretation of the contest theme “Keeping Our Streets Clean, Every Day in Every Way”. The Grand Prize is a sleepover for four at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, and the chosen artwork will be displayed on an active LASAN collection truck in South Los Angeles neighborhoods.

Free food and beverage

LASAN staff will be grilling from 10am to 2pm! Platters include a choice of hot dog or chicken sandwich, served with fresh fruit and pretzels. Ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, and cold water will also be available. These treats are free for all, while supplies last.

Kids Tent

Who wants to be an LASAN Earth Day Ambassador? The Environmental Learning Center at Hyperion (ELC) will be hosting a Kids Corner for our younger attendees. The Kids Corner offers educational, engaging game and craft stations to teach kids how to protect the environment through everyday sustainable practices.
Bring your children to meet Tommy the Clown, learn more about the City’s work to protect the environment, begin your own vegetable garden, and make your very own Earth Day Pledge.
