Creek Fire update

Due to the Creek Fire, our Lopez Canyon facility is closed to the public and to most of our staff. As such, our operations at this facility have been temporarily paused. This means we are not processing green waste to produce mulch, and our composting workshop this weekend has been cancelled. We are also temporarily unable to distribute sand and sand bags in preparation for wet weather. When operations resume, we will notify you.

If you live north of the 10 freeway, please note that we are indefinitely unable to deliver mulch and we are unsure when we can begin this free service again. If you live south of the 10 freeway, your mulch will be delivered as scheduled because it comes from our Harbor facility, which has not been affected. Unfortunately, we are temporarily unable to refill the self-service mulch locations around the City until further notice.

The fires on our property have been extinguished, and we are continuing to water our mulch piles to prevent further damage. Although we have suffered some loss of equipment, pipes, and power lines, and we are not expecting further damage. As our operations resume and our Lopez Canyon Education Center reopens, we will let you know.

LA Sanitation offers its sincere thanks to the City's emergency teams who have bravely and tirelessly assisted our staff as well as local residents and businesses. We salute you!

Skirball Fire update

Please note that due to closed roads resulting from the fire near the Getty Center, we are unable to access the homes between the 405 freeway and Roscomare Road from Mulholland Drive to Sunset Blvd. There will be no bin collection service, bin repair, or bin replacement today, and we apologize for this inconvenience. If the roads are open and the path is safe, we will collect your bins tomorrow.

In the meantime, we send our best wishes to all who are affected by the fire. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our services, please call LA Sanitation's 24-hour Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-2489. For other City-related requests, please dial 3-1-1 or use the MyLA311 app.
