- Integrated Resources Plan
The Bureau, in partnership with Department of Water and Power (DWP) and its community stakeholders, have completed a visionary 20 year Integrated Resources Plan (IRP). The IRP addresses our wastewater, stormwater, and recycled water needs in an integrated manner while maximizing beneficial reuse and increasing use of existing resources. By recognizing the relationships among these interdependent water resources and planning on a watershed basis, the community and the environment can achieve the highest benefit for the least overall cost and impact.
- Biosolids
Environmental Management System
The City of Los Angeles recovers residues, known as biosolids, from its wastewater treatment plants. The Hyperion Treatment Plant and the Terminal Island Treatment Plant are responsible for managing the biosolids that are produced from the wastewater processing. Strict quality control procedures and regulatory compliance with federal and local laws are followed for the production and use of biosolids. Farmers use some of the biosolids as a soil amendment and fertilizing material and some are mixed with green materials to produce compost.
