Using Fewer Natural Resources

Reprocessing used material to make new products and packaging reduces the consumption of virgin natural resources, such as metal and trees.  Rate of use and disposal by humans takes a particularly heavy toll on irreplaceable natural resources from our forests and mines.  Angelinos' can help preserve valuable resources all over the United States by giving new life to used materials through recycling.

Reducing Greenhouse Gases

Much of the energy used in the creation and transportation of new products involves burning fossil fuel like gasoline, diesel and coal.  These are also the most important sources of carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions into the environment.  When Angelinos recycle, less energy is needed to reprocess used material into new products.  Recycling just one aluminum can saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for 3½ hours.

Maximize Remaining Landfill Space

Many recyclable material does not decompose quickly.  For example, glass can take millions of years to decompose.  When recyclables are transported as trash to landfills they take up valuable landfill space.  Angelinos' can help maximize the use of landfill space by only sending material that cannot be recycled or composted.
