Solid Resources Citywide Recycling Division (SRCRD) develops and implements effective and cost-effective source reduction, recycling, and re-use programs and policies. SRCRD provides technical assistance to City Departments, private sector businesses, multi-family complexes, and the community. The office fosters public/private recycling partnerships and helps to promote new markets for recyclable materials.
SRCRD will provide information on the California Integrated Solid Waste Management Act, Assembly Bill 939 (AB 939) compliance. AB 939 established a waste management hierarchy for reducing the amount of waste going to landfills. The legislation mandates a 50% diversion of waste from landfills by each city by the year 2000. The City of Los Angeles initiated a Solide Waste Integrated Resources Plan in the Spring of 2007 and is moving tword zero waste by 2030. Who do You Call?
