City Sewers Current Construction

Hollydale Drive Local Sewer Addition Project

The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works is beginning construction of a sewer project in your neighborhood. The Hollydale Drive Local Sewer Addition Project will include a number of improvements that will make these sewers more reliable for decades to come. The project will involve building a new eight-inch sewer in Hollydale Drive between Glendale Boulevard and Silver Lake Boulevard. After the sewer is built, about 80 homes will be reconnected to this line.

This sewer project is scheduled to begin in late 2008

QUICK FACTS
  • A new, 3100-foot long, eight-inch diameter sewer will be built.
  • Construction period: November 2008 through fall 2009
  • Work hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Limited night work and some service interruptions may take place when the individual local sewers (from homes) are reconnected to the new sewer. Residents will be notified 24 to 48 hours in advance.
  • Project cost: $1.1 million
  • Construction method: Open trench
  • Maintenance holes: Existing eight-inch sewers adjacent to the new sewer will be retrofitted with trap maintenance holes or will be reconnected to the new sewer.
  • Trucks and other equipment such as pipes will be used during construction, and you may see open trench excavation and debris removal.
  • Dust control will be provided in all project areas.
  • Enclosures or other barriers will be used in construction areas wherever necessary for public safety.
  • Traffic and parking controls will be enforced. Temporary “no parking” signs may be posted in areas where construction is taking place. Flaggers will be used where traffic is impacted. Traffic will be restored to normal when construction has been completed at the end of each workday.
  • Parking may be temporarily restricted in some areas, and signs will be posted in advance telling you where and when.
  • Safe and adequate pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained at all times to residences, bus stops, and fire hydrants.
  • Trash pickup, deliveries, access to all residential driveways and alleys will be maintained.
