City Sewers Completd Construction
Hoover Street and Union Avenue Sewer Project
Inspections showed that portions of the clay pipe sewers, located under Hoover Street and Union Avenue were about 100 years old and were deteriorated. Rehabilitating these sewers restored their longevity, increased capacity, reduce odors and prevented spills.
Two new sections were rebuilt using a Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) liner method. CIPP did not require an open trench and minimized neighborhood disturbances. The third section was built as a new sewer parallel to the old sewer on Hoover between Adams Blvd. and 28th Street. The old sewer was filled with a slurry material and abandoned in place. Sewers from neighborhood homes and businesses were reconnected to the new sewers as they were completed. No interruption in service was anticipated. Three new maintenance holes were also constructed.
