Dry Cleaners

The Dry Cleaners Certification and Permitting Program has been developed to ensure that no perchloroethylene (PERC) is discharged to the sewer, storm drain, or ground. All wastewater containing PERC or other solvent contaminated liquids should be properly disposed of by evaporation, or removed from the facility by a certified waste hauler (with records retained for verification).

Dry cleaners that have at least one washing machine will be required to obtain an Industrial Waste Permit.

Please contact the Bureau of Sanitation, Industrial Waste Management Division at (323) 342-6200 for more information.
