 What We Do

The Bureau of Sanitation delivers four major core services:

Wastewater Program

Collection, Conveyance, Treatment and Disposal – We safely & efficiently convey and treat 550 million gallons of wastewater per day and beneficially reuse 700 wet tons per day of biosolids.

Solid Resources Program

Collection, Recycling and Disposal – Annually we collect 1.4 million tons of refuse from single and small multiple-family residences, 190,000 tons of recyclables and 480,000 tons of yard trimmings.

Watershed Protection Program

We protect the beneficial uses of our receiving waters, while complying with all stormwater pollution abatement regulations.

General Administration And Support

We oversee all Bureau activities and provide a central control for purchasing, personnel, payroll, and insurance. We also provide data management for the Bureau.
