To highlight some of the accomplishments and improvements of the City’s biosolids management program we have completed our annual 2008 Biosolids Environmental Management System Performance Report. The City of Los Angeles is continuously investigating, developing, and implementing changes to our biosolids management program. In order to maintain a program that is environmentally sound, protective of public health and the environment, and cost-effective we implement changes to our program. We are committed to keep you informed and involved in our program. Listed below are program updates and changes. Contact us for more information about these items.
- 2009 Biosolids Interim Audit – The City conducted a biosolids EMS audit May 26-June 5. The audit confirmed that we are continuing to meet and exceed the expectations established by the National Biosolids Partnership and set by the City for biosolids management. The results are provided for your review and input. Click here.
- Biosolids Performance Report – We have completed our 2008 Biosolids Performance Report. Click HERE to view the report.
- 2008 Biosolids EMS audit – The City conducted a third party re-verification audit of our program on August 12-15, 2008. The audit was performed by an independent third party. The auditor verified that the City’s biosolids environmental management system meets the expectations and requirements of the NBP EMS program and recommended continued certification of our program at the Platinum Level status. - TIRE Update – The City has been injecting digested sludge and biosolids slurry into deep geological subsurface for over a year. The materials are being pumped five days a week and montitored continuously. Based on data received the formations are responding well and accepting the material. For more information click here.
